- Studied minerology in Jena.
- Took over the education of his brother's
children after his brother's death. He was inspired by their
play habits.
- Inventor of the Kindergarten
System. It was to be a place where children could explore their
creativity to its maximum under the guidance and watchful eye of a
trained adult.

"occupatiosn") and toys (Froebel's "gifts") for
children.
- In 1851, on year before Froebel's death,
the Prussian government ordered the closure of all kindergartens
because they were afraid that the kindergartens were breeding grounds
for political revolution.
Concepts:
- He believed in the use of play in
education because it is a creative activity that children could use to
learn about the world in relation to themselves.

Froebel's work.
- Froebel thought that the link between
mother and child was very important in education, so he started
training courses on the process of educating a child for female
"kindergartners."
Quotes:
"The purpose of education is to
encourage and guide man as a conscious, thinking and perceiving being in
such a way that he becomes a pure and perfect representation of that
divine inner law through his own personal choice; education must show him
the ways and meanings of attaining that goal." (Friedrich Froebel
1826 Die Nenschenerziehung, pp. 2)
